The JEE Main examination pattern consists of two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2, both of which are conducted in computer-based mode
Paper-1 (B.E/B.Tech):
• Duration: 3 hours
• Mode: Online (Computer-based)
• Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Value Questions (NVQs)
• Number of Questions: 75 (25 each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
• Maximum Marks: 300
• Marking Scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer.
Paper-2 (B.Arch/B.Planning):
• Duration: 3 hours
• Mode: Online (Computer-based)
• Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Numerical Value Questions (NVQs), and Drawing Questions
• Number of Questions: 77 (25 in Mathematics, 50 in Aptitude and 2 questions to test drawing aptitude)
• Maximum Marks: 400
• Marking Scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer in Mathematics and Aptitude, and 70 marks for Drawing Questions
The examination is held twice a year, usually in January and April. The question paper is available in English, Hindi, and Gujarati languages. The mode of examination may change to pen and paper-based mode under certain circumstances.
