JEE Advanced is an entrance examination conducted by one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for admission to undergraduate engineering programs leading to a Bachelor's, Integrated Master's or Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture, or Pharmaceutics in IITs. It is considered as the second stage of the two-tier examination process after JEE Mains and is conducted annually, usually in May.
JEE Advanced is considered to be one of the most challenging engineering entrance examinations in the world and is open to students who have qualified JEE Mains and have secured a minimum percentage in class 12th or equivalent examination. The examination consists of two papers and is conducted online. The top 2,50,000 candidates based on JEE Mains scores are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The scores of JEE Advanced are used for admission to the undergraduate engineering programs offered by the IITs.
